Municipal Pavilion

Miguel Ángel Gómez Campuzano was a Mairena-born athlete specializing in sprinting events. He died in a car accident at the age of 25 in 1993. In 1992, the Municipal Pavilion bearing his name was inaugurated, and this monument is located there. This bronze statue depicts the athlete in a sprint and serves as a tribute to his memory. It features a quote from his father: “His devastated parents, bleeding hearts, go to the Virgin pleading. She knows this pain, may she embrace it with affection and bestow her blessing.”
