This monument is a work by Ventura Gómez from 2014, a posthumous tribute to the former priest of this town, Don Luis Miguel Gómez Urbina. It was initiated by the citizens’ platform “Amigos de Don Luis” (Friends of Don Luis). It is located on Daoiz Street.

Don Luis, a native of Pilas (Seville), was a priest in Mairena for 22 years and left an indelible mark on this town. He remained in Pilas until the age of 19, and it was then that, having completed his Bachelor’s degree, he moved to Seville to start his degree in Geography and History at the Faculty and the Introductory Course at the Seminary of Seville.

He stayed in Seville until the age of 25, residing as a seminarian in the seminary located in the San Telmo Palace, which is now the headquarters of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía. He was ordained a priest there on December 8, 1983.
