Donation from the author to the town. Originally conceived as a three-dimensional sculpture, it was eventually created as a low relief made of fired clay. The author depicts a group of penitents from the Cristo de la Cárcel, popularly known as “Grillos,” including some of their distinctive features: shackles on their feet and hooded robes without conical hoods. The crosses were added by the author to symbolize the act of penance immortalized in this monument.
